My client, a successful property and auctioneering company are recruiting for a Machinery and Equipment Department Manager to join their team around the South West.
This role is interesting and extremely varied, working on a number of machinery equipment to involve Horseboxes, tractors and a wide range of Agricultural machinery. In which you’ll be required to promote, source and sell for their sales department.
You will be required to travel around multiple areas of Devon and Cornwall, therefore, having a full UK driving licence including access to your own car is essential to be considered for this role. As well as, good working knowledge of the value of the machinery and equipment you are sourcing. Plus great attention to detail in the description of lots for sale, record keeping and Health and Safety.
Machinery and Equipment Department Manager duties include, but will not be limited to:
- To visit clients and prospective clients
- Post appointment work (i.e. signed contracts, client liaison)
- The sole responsibility for the online timed sale, to include sourcing lots, cataloguing, marketing and managing sale process with assistance from admin and marketing colleagues as necessary
- Assist with H&S matters relating to sales
- Record with accuracy and detail the description of lots to be sold
- Accurately communicate details of machinery sourced
- Liaise with other departments of the firm
- Communicate with sellers, buyers and dealers alike in a professional manner and with high levels of customer care and integrity.
- Attend machinery sales
- Assist with the arrival and departure of items of machinery for Auction at collective on-site sales
- Ensure all sold and unsold lots are removed from the site post-auction in a timely manner
- Complete weekly reports
- Conduct research into the industry, our competition, our own sales records and present them to the team
- Promote all machinery sales
- Photograph and video machinery for sale
To be considered for the role of Machinery and Equipment Department Manager you must have:

- Ability to assess situations
- Knowledge of Machinery and its value
- Full UK driving licence, as well as, access to your own car is essential
- Knowledge of the Local Area
- Previous Auctioneering Experience
- Previous experience in a similar/management role
- Previous experience in production and delivery of Risk assessments and other health and safety protocols
Working hours:
As a Machinery and Equipment Department Manager, you’ll be required to work full-time Monday to Friday. Including weekends as you will be travelling to farms throughout the South West and will attend sales events as and when required
