Our client is a fantastic and well established Design and Property Consultants based in Ipswich. They are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join their expanding team.

As a Mechanical Engineer your role will involve:

  • To deliver mechanical building services designs for the Group, engaging with other disciplines to ensure that fundamental building services principles drive building design and ensuring both the compliance and the quality of installations
  • Work within an integrated M&E department consisting of CAD Technicians, Trainees, Engineers and Senior Engineers
  • Liaise with clients, developing the relevant aspect of their client briefs
  • Work collaboratively with other professionals and also with contractors and suppliers
  • Design of heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems for both new and existing buildings
  • Production of design calculations, schematics and detailed specifications and drawings using design software and specification methods
  • Undertake site surveys, site visits and associated inspections according to standard project/industry procedures or as the project requires
  • Produce appropriate reports, drawings and specifications of compliant mechanical building services design including heating, ventilation, air conditioning and water services
  • Produce industry standard tender packages, undertake analysis of tenders and monitor and manage cost, quality and timescales
  • Undertake appropriate site surveys, inspections and monitoring
  • Check the design information, calculations, drawings and specifications prepared by others

To be considered for the Mechanical Engineer role you must have:

  • An HND or degree in an engineering-related subject
  • At least five years’ experience in the profession, preferably in a consultancy practice or for a large contractor in a design capacity
  • Up to date knowledge of relevant Building Regulations and standards for mechanical installations
  • High level of technical skill
  • General knowledge in current design industry processes and procurement arrangements

Working hours:

As a Mechanical Engineer, you’ll be required to work full-time Monday to Friday. My client is operating a flexible working pattern and a 70/30 working from the office and home split.

Our client is offering the successful Mechanical Engineer:

  • £38,000 basic
