Our clients, a Design and Property Consultancy in Ipswich are currently expanding their growing team. They are recruiting for an experienced Structural Engineer with at least 2 years experience in Engineering. They specialise in projects within the public and private sector, so experience with this would be beneficial. You will be able to build good relationships with colleagues and will understand the importance of confidentially and have excellent attention to detail.

As a Structural Engineer your role will involve:

  • Plan, design and manage structural design projects, ensuring the structures are safe, compliant and economic
  • Support the Senior Structural Engineer and Principal Civil and Structural Engineer as required
  • Prepare bids for tenders and report to clients, public agents and planning bodies
  • Undertake feasibility, concept and detail structural engineering design and checking
  • Undertake structural inspections
  • Commission specialist surveys
  • Create engineering drawings using CAD packages and sketches for drafting
  • Assessing the Health and Safety impact and risks connected to design decisions
  • Ensuring Asset Information requirements and/or MIDP requirements set out in the Employers Information Requirements and delivered on a BIM project

To be considered for the Structural Engineer role you must have:

  • Strong Engineering experience (minimum of two years)
  • Chartership with ICE, I Struct E or equivalent (or in progress to attain this)
  • Decision making with minimal supervision abilities
  • Ability to work directly with clients and other team members to ensure projects are completed in agreed timescales
  • Team worker – You work collaboratively with your team to achieve better outcomes for customers
  • Service deliverer – You focus on delivering a service that provides great outcomes for our customers
  • Liaise with Clients, Architects and other professional staff and provide technical advice to them
  • Negotiate with drainage utilities, the Environment Agency and the lead local flood authority

Working hours:

  • Monday – Friday
  • 37.5 hours a week

  • £43,800 basic
